Elder Willie Boyd, Sr. is a native of Memphis, Tennessee.  He, along with his wife, Elect Lady Patricia Boyd, and their two children, retired to this area after serving 20 years in the United States Army.  Elder Willie Boyd, Sr. joined the Friendly COGIC family and served faithfully under the late Superintendent Leroy James.  When Superintendent James retired in December of 2016, Elder Willie Boyd, Sr. was selected to carry the mantle.  He was installed as the newly appointed Pastor of the Friendly COGIC by Bishop Mark Walden, Prelate of the Northern Georgia Second Jurisdiction on January 17, 2017.   During his time as Pastor, he has added to the vision of the late Superintendent James, by adding additional property around the church location on Carrie Street, which is called "the Friendly Square".  Pastor, Boyd, with the faithful and dedicated help of the Friendly members, family, and friends, obtained the title to the 26.43 acres of property that God had initially shown to Pastor James as the new church edifice, on Jimmie Dyess Parkway.  Also, Pastor Boyd and Lady Boyd have continued to build up the Mission ministry in the church community by establishing the Back-to-School Community Book Bag and Food Drive, which could only be successful with the help of the Friendly members and auxiliaries.  To God Be the Glory!!!
